From Decoupled to Uncoupled, Netflix is hitting us with unbelievable original rom-com content this year.
The streaming giant has unveiled a teaser for the much-anticipated LGBTQ+ series Uncoupled, starring the How I Met Your Mother alum, Neil Patrick Harris.
Created by Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman, Uncoupled follows Michael (Harris), who thought his life was on the right track until his hubby left after a 17-year marriage. Michael faces conflict as he has to choose between losing his soulmate and starting all over again as a single man in his 40s.
In the teaser, we see an angry Michael thrashing a bouquet of red roses in the garbage can in the middle of the street as flashbacks zoom in on his and his husband's intimate moments, which turned into the couple's counselling before the latter left.
But then again, the bouquet smashing might just have been Michael's imagination as we see him standing again next to the garbage can still with the roses in hand. A cute guy passes by across the street, and they exchange a flirtatious smile. Michael throws the bouquet in the can and walks down the street, happy as a clam.
The caption 'Breakups suck, but single life doesn't have to,' flashes by as Michael navigates the single dating life alongside his friends.
Super stoked is what Patrick Harris feels as he took to Twitter to post the show’s teaser, with the logline, “I made this show for Netflix. It’s called Uncoupled. I’m super stoked. Here’s a tease. More soon.”
The eight-episode series will premiere on July 29, and it stars Neil Patrick Harris as Michael, Tuc Watkins as Michael’s hedge fund manager husband Colin, Tisha Campbell as Michael’s business partner Suzanne, Emerson Brooks as weather forecaster Billy, Brooks Ashmanskas as Stanley, an art dealer and Marcia Gay Harden as socialite Claire.
I can’t wait for Netflix to unveil this one as I eagerly awaited the 2021 Christmas gay rom-com film Single All The Way.
