Mary J. Blige Announces She has Written a Children's Book

Hip hop legend Mary J. Blige has announced that she will be release her first children’s book.

This first kid’s book that she has written is set to be titled, ‘Mary Can!’

The musical artist took to social media to announce her debut into the world of books.

On Instagram, the star revealed her “BIG NEWS,” posting the cover art for the new book.

The children’s work is illustrated by artist Ashleigh Corrin and is set to be released for sale in stores on 28th March of next year.

“I’m so excited to share some BIG NEWS with you!!! I wrote a book for kids and it is available for preorder TODAY!” Blige wrote on Instagram.

As perhaps evident by the book’s title, it will offer inspiration to young girls who want to follow their dreams.

“Mary Can! is an inspirational and motivating story about a young girl who proves that anyone can make their dreams come true if they just believe in themselves,” she explained to fans on social media.

The hip hop soul legend explained that she relied on many of her own experiences throughout her career to write the book.

“It’s such a personal story for me, based off my own experiences as a child and even as an adult. I was so used to people telling me ‘no’ and that I ‘couldn’t’ which only motivated me more,” she said.

“My hope with this book is that it instills in kids from an early age that they can do anything they aspire to do,” she explained, “There are no limits to what they can accomplish!”

The news comes in what has been a highly lucrative year for the Atlanta artist.

Blige performed alongside West Coast rap stars Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre in the Super Bowl half-time show in March, in front of a huge love and TV audience.

After the performance, her song ‘No More Drama,’ received a huge uptake in streams online as new fans discovered her music.

That same weekend Mary J. Blige released her latest studio album, ‘Good Morning Beautiful,’ which has since received six Grammy nominations.

The album was the 14th of Blige’s successful career and it shows no signs of coming to a halt yet.
