Hulu is definitely taking up the challenge to produce more LGBTQ+ content this year. Fresh off the Crush trailer the streamer dropped early this month focusing on teen lesbian romance, we welcome the gay rom-com film Fire Island whose official trailer premiered last night.

Twitter Announcement

Hulu took to its Twitter page to announce its upcoming film’s debut date. The caption “Who’s ready for the hottest summer ever? Stream @FireIslandMovie on June 3. #FireIsland” completes the trailer video.

The steaming company also uploaded the film’s first-look poster, introducing the main cast Joel Kim Booster, Bowen Yang, Conrad Ricamora and Margaret Cho.

What's The Story

This modern-day film is based on the classic novel 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen. It follows two gay BFFs, Noah and Howie, who go on vacay to the Pines, Fire Island, the ultimate gay getaway destination. They end up making new gay friends as well as sparking flirtatious relationships with two other notably well-to-do vacationers, Charlie and Will.

Who Casts Fire Island

Comedians Joel Kim Booster and Bowen Yang star as the movie's leading queens, Noah and Howen, respectively. Joining the duo are Margaret Cho as Erin, Conrad Rincamora as Will, James Scully as Charlie, Matt Rogers as Luke, Tomás Matos as Keegan, Torian Miller as Max, Nick Adams as Cooper, Zane Phillips as Dex, Michael Graceffa as Rhys, Aidan Wharton as Braden, Peter Smith as Moses and Bradley Gibson as Johnny.

Fire Island Says "Proud to be Gay"

Booster, who is also the film's scriptwriter and one of the executive producers, says the movie aims to make the queer proud of their sexuality. 'I want gay men to walk away from the movie happy that they're gay.'

And indeed, the trailer displays happy, sassy queens having the time of their lives, proud of who they are. “It takes a match to light a fire!” Fire Island debuts on June 3 on Hulu. In the meantime, only a couple of days left to the premiere of the teen lesbian rom-com film Crush.
