As fans eagerly awaited the film's cast announcement, many were disappointed not to see Colin Firth's name listed, especially since they were hoping for Mark Darcy, Bridget's true love, to return.
According to a report by Independent, Hugh Grant shared some important details about the upcoming Bridget Jones film, including whether Firth will be part of it.
Grant's remarks indicate that alongside Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant, Leo Woodall from the series 'One Day' and Chiwetel Ejiofor, whom we saw in '12 Years a Slave,' will also be part of the cast.

Speaking to People about the film, Hugh Grant mentioned,
'The screenplay is adapted from Helen Fielding's novel of the same name. We're portraying Helen's raising her two children alone after her husband's death. Bridget is also raising two kids and wondering if she should start seeing someone again. The script is really good. It will make the audience both laugh and feel emotional. In the novel, Mark dies in a landmine accident two years ago, leaving Bridget a widow. So, I don't think Colin Firth will be in the film's cast.'
