Istanbul Weather Warning: Heavy Rain Expected at 7 PM
Following the warnings from the Meteorology Department, a critical alert for Istanbul has also been issued by Orhan Şen. Weather expert Professor Orhan Şen announced the hour when the rainfall will commence.
On the other hand, the General Directorate of Meteorology stated in their announcement, 'Heavy rainfall is expected in the eastern part of Marmara.'
Warning for Istanbul at 7 p.m.
The adverse weather conditions persisting across the Marmara Region are gearing up to intensify from the evening hours onwards. The General Directorate of Meteorology and experts have issued critical warnings for many cities in the region, with Istanbul being the primary concern. During a live broadcast on CNN Turk, Meteorology Expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen shared the latest weather evaluations, stating that the rainfall will commence at 19.00 in the evening and will continue uninterrupted throughout the night.
The Meteorology Department has announced the cities where heavy rainfall is expected.
It is anticipated that the wave of rain, expected to enter particularly from the northern districts of Istanbul, will be felt more intensely around the Bosphorus and on the Anatolian side during the night hours.
It has been reported that the heavy rains will not be limited to Istanbul alone, but will also affect the eastern part of Marmara. According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology; in the surroundings of Bursa, Kocaeli, and Yalova, the rains are expected to be strong intermittently; in the eastern and southern parts of Sakarya and Kocaeli, they are predicted to be very strong in places. Authorities have called on the local population to be cautious against possible floods, sudden water inundations, lightning, landslides, and disruptions in transportation.
The statement made by the Meteorology Department is as follows:
'According to the latest assessments; it is predicted that the heavy rains, which are still ongoing in places in the east of Marmara, will continue intermittently strong (2150 kg/m2) in Istanbul, Bursa, the west of Kocaeli, and Yalova, and very strong (2175 kg/m2) in the surroundings of Sakarya, especially in the high sections, and in the south and east of Kocaeli after the night hours. With the heavy rains, caution and precautions should be taken against adversities such as floods, water inundations, lightning, landslides, and disruptions in transportation.'
Temperatures are dropping across Turkey. Thermometers will be indicating 15 degrees.
The low-pressure system and northerly winds affecting Turkey nationwide are bringing about a noticeable drop in temperatures. It is anticipated that temperatures across the Marmara region will decrease by 45 degrees, falling to levels of 18-19 degrees in Istanbul. Similarly, thermometers in Ankara and Eskişehir are expected to drop to 15 degrees.
The rainy weather in Istanbul is reported to continue intermittently and in local transitions until Saturday, with the possibility of rain intensifying again on Wednesday. Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen, making a general assessment of the upcoming period, stated that due to the effects of 'Super El Nino,' we are entering a critical autumn and winter season where heavy rains may occur.
