FIFA has officially approved some rule changes that will be in effect for the 2026 World Cup. The new regulations encompass player substitutions, throw-ins, and the application of VAR.
The World Cup is set to captivate football enthusiasts once again this summer, drawing them to their screens.

The excitement for the World Cup, set to be hosted in three countries, has already started to brew. Some teams, including Turkey, are still battling it out in the Play Off stage, while the groups and match schedule have been established for the tournament.
Meanwhile, with the tournament just around the corner, FIFA has unveiled new rules that will be implemented.
The changes and the rules to be implemented are as follows:

FIFA has announced rule changes that will take effect in the 2026 World Cup:
Players being substituted will need to leave the pitch within 10 seconds; should they exceed this time, the incoming player will have to wait for one minute until the first stoppage in play.
If throw-ins are not executed within 5 seconds, the ball will be turned over to the opposing team; the referee, if necessary, will initiate a countdown.
Players requesting medical attention will have to leave the field and wait for one minute after the game has resumed (exceptions apply).
The VAR will now be able to intervene in cases of second yellow card errors and corner decisions, provided there is a clear refereeing mistake.
