'Bigger Than Africa' delves into how the Yoruba culture of West Africa overcame and transcended slavery to survive and thrive in the New World to this day. It's a work that takes you on a voyage through six countries: Brazil, the United States, Cuba, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, and Benin.

Slave ships docked in the Americas, Cuba, and the Caribbean, bringing with them hundreds of civilizations and religions, but only one survived the plantations.
Yoruba culture is the most prominent African Diaspora culture to this day. This West African culture dominates all other African cultures and can be considered to have survived the plantations for hundreds of years, from Brazil to Trinidad, the United States to Cuba, Haiti, and the entire Caribbean.
'Bigger Than Africa' follows the trans-Atlantic slave trade route from West Africa to six different countries, including the United States, Nigeria, Brazil, the Republic of Benin, Trinidad and Tobago, and Cuba, in order to investigate and discover reasons for the survival of this unique West African culture.

‘Bigger Than Africa’, is the first feature documentary film by African filmmaker Toyin Ibrahim Adekeye, which is set to release on Netflix, a global streaming platform.
Motherland Productions produced the picture, which was distributed by KAP Film with the help of the New York-based Management Agency EGMNY.
