Catherine Zeta Jones will be starring on 'National Treasure' series by Disney+
It's official: Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones will star as an antagonist opposite Lisette Alexis in Disney Plus' upcoming National Treasure series.
The live-action series is a spinoff of the National Treasure film franchise, executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Jon Turteltaub. Lisette Alexis, a newcomer, will play Jess, a teenage heroine who sets off on a whirlwind quest to find the truth about her family's secret past and recover a lost Pan-American treasure.
The Role of Catherine Zeta Jones
Billie, a tough millionaire, black-market antique specialist, and treasure hunter who lives by her own code, will be played by Zeta-Jones. Billie has transformed herself from a poor orphan to a savvy, stylish businesswoman who knows how to obtain what she wants. She's after the Pan-American treasure, but it's not just about the cash. The stakes for this prize are higher.
After starring in 'The Mask of Zorro' and winning an Academy Award for her turn as murderous showgirl Velma Kelly in 'Chicago', Zeta-Jones gained international acclaim. She recently starred as Griselda Blanco in the Lifetime original film 'Cocaine Godmother', which is based on the renowned drug lord's true story.
'National Treasure' Production State
Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, and Rick Muirragui will serve as executive producers alongside producer Jerry Bruckheimer, writer pair Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, and Rick Muirragui, who directed 'National Treasure' and 'National Treasure 2'.
The series will be directed and executive produced by Mira Nair, who directed Disney's Queen of Katwe. In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, production will begin this month.
