'Along for the Ride' is a new American drama film based on Sarah Dessen's novel of the same name.

Sofia Alvarez, who previously worked with Netflix on To All the Boys I've Loved Before and its two sequels, as well as the Eric Andre FXX sitcom Man Seeking Woman, wrote the script. Alvarez is also directing the film, making her directorial debut with 'Along for the Ride.'

‘Along for the Ride’ Release Date

Netflix has set Friday, April 22, 2022 as the premiere date for the film.

The trailer for the movie 'Along for the Ride' dropped on March 24th next to the caption:

“The summer before college Auden meets the mysterious Eli, a fellow insomniac. While the seaside town of Colby sleeps, the two embark on a nightly quest to help Auden experience the fun, carefree teen life she never knew she wanted.”

Auden meets the mysterious Eli, a fellow insomniac, during the summer before college. While the beach town of Colby sleeps, the two set out on a nightly mission to let Auden live the carefree, fun-loving teen life she never realized she craved.

‘Along for the Ride’ Cast

Belmont Cameli (Saved by the Bell). Auden's mother will be played by Andie MacDowell (Groundhog Day, Four Weddings and a Funeral), her stepmother Heidi will be played by Kate Bosworth (Blue Crush), and Auden's father will be played by Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend's Wedding).

Laura Karuiki (Black Lighting) plays Leah, Genevieve Hannelius (Dog with a Blog) plays Esther, Paul Karmiyan (So You Think You Can Dance) plays Adam, Marcus Scribner (Black-ish) plays Wallace, and Ricardo Hurtado (School of Rock) plays Jake.

‘Along for the Ride’ Production Details

In April 2021 Deadline announced that production had begun on a film adaptation of Sarah Dessen's 2009 novel Along for the Ride, the rights of which had been picked up by Netflix.

Sofia Alvarez, who had previously adapted two of Jenny Han's novels for the platform, was brought on to write the screenplay as well as serve as director.

Screen Arcade’s Bryan Unkeless and Eric Newman are producing the project with Alyssa Rodrigues, Sian McArthur, and Erika Hampson as executive producers.
