A 2014 Biopic Of An American Painter Margaret Keane ‘Big Eyes’ To Release On Netflix In April 2022

‘Big Eyes’ is a 2014 American biographical drama film about the relationship between American artist Margaret Keane and her second husband, Walter Keane, who, in the 1950s and 1960s, took credit for Margaret's phenomenally popular paintings of people with big eyes.

Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), an artist who painted pictures of saucer-eyed waifs in the late 1950s and early 1960s, acquired incredible popularity and fortune. No one recognizes, however, that his wife Margaret (Amy Adams) is the true painter. Margaret is appalled to hear that Walter is stealing her work and passing it off as his own, but she is too quiet to speak up. The truth only comes to light when the Keanes' marriage ends and a lawsuit ensues.

‘Big Eyes’ cast ensemble includes Amy Adams as Margaret Keane, Christoph Waltz as Walter Keane, Danny Huston as Dick Nolan, Krysten Ritter as Dee-Ann, Jason Schwartzman as Ruben, Terence Stamp as John Canaday, Jon Polito as Enrico Banducci, Delaney Raye as a Young Jane, Madeleine Arthur as Older Jane, James Saito as Judge, Dylan Kingwell as Boy at Art Show (in the park).

The picture was directed by Tim Burton, an American director noted for his unique, quirky aesthetic, which usually incorporated aspects of the weird and macabre. Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski wrote 'Big Eyes.'

On December 15, 2014, the film had its global debut in New York City, and on December 25, 2014, The Weinstein Company released it in the United States. It received generally positive reviews, with special praise for Adams and Waltz's performances.

Adams was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Actress in a Leading Role and won the Golden Globe for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. Waltz was also nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance, while Lana Del Rey was nominated for her song 'Big Eyes,' which was featured in the film.
