The year 2023 is looking to be even better for comedic movies. There are many fascinating comedies coming out next year, and among them are Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie, Taika Waititi's soccer film, and Ari Aster's satirical horror epic with Joaquin Phoenix.

1. Distant

Adapted from a screenplay by Spenser Cohen, Josh Gordon and Will Speck's upcoming science fiction comedy film Distant centers on an asteroid miner who is stuck on a mysterious planet and sets out to find his trapped coworker while conversing with the AI. wearing a suit.

Anthony Ramos, Naomi Scott, and Zachary Quinto are its main actors. It was filmed in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in Budapest, Hungary. The movie is set for release by Universal Pictures on January 27, 2023, in the US.

The kids must learn to cooperate to overcome the new antagonists Kalypso (Lucy Liu) and Hespera (Helen Mirren), also known as the daughters of Atlas, when they arrive.

Opens On: April 7, 2023

Produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination (Despicable Me) and Mario's designer Shigeru Miyamoto, this motion picture features the enduring Nintendo symbol and his companions. In an effort to rescue a kidnapped princess, a plumber named Mario journeys through a subterranean labyrinth with his brother, Luigi.

The well-known Goomba-stomping plumber, voiced by Chris Pratt, travels to the Mushroom Kingdom where he encounters Keegan-Michael Key's Toad. Princess Peach will also be voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day will play Luigi, and Jack Black and Seth Rogen will play Bowser and Donkey Kong, respectively.

5. Renfield

Opens On: April 14, 2023

In Chris McKay's horror comedy Renfield, Nicholas Hoult will play the title character, a Dracula henchman who decides to leave his vampire master after falling in love with a traffic cop in contemporary New Orleans. Renfield's romantic interest Rebecca Quincy will be portrayed by Awkwafina, and Count Dracula will be portrayed by Nicolas Cage.

Renfield, which is based on a concept by Robert Kirkman, is predicted to be the funniest, silliest horror film of 2023. The release date is April 14.

The long-awaited soccer comedy Next Goal Wins from Taika Waititi will finally be released by Searchlight Pictures just one week after Renfield opens in theaters. Next Goal Wins is a classic sports underdog tale co-written by Waititi and British sitcom stalwart Iain Morris, and it is based on the acclaimed documentary of the same name.

Actor Michael Fassbender portrays Thomas Rongen, the real-life coach tasked with improving the performance of the severely derided American Samoa national team.

7. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

With the eagerly anticipated third installment, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol., James Gunn will wrap up the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 3. This motley crew of space criminals will face off against Adam Warlock and the High Evolutionary in their most recent big-screen escapade.

Along with promising newbies like Will Poulter as Adam and Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Spacedog, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaa, and their perfectly matched co-stars are also reprising their roles from prior MCU productions.

8. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of 2022 until it was postponed to 2023. 

Miles Morales is back for the final installment of the Spider-Verse saga, an epic journey that will take Brooklyn's resident Spider-Man, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, across the Multiverse to team up with Gwen Stacy and a fresh group of Spider-People in order to take on a foe more potent than anything they have ever faced.

Miles Morales will once more be voiced by Shameik Moore, along with Hailee Steinfeld's Gwen Stacy and Oscar Isaac's Miguel O'Hara (also known as Spider-Man 2099). Additionally, Issa Rae is confirmed to play Jessica Drew (also known as Spider-Woman), and it's possible that Jake Johnson will reprise his role as Peter Parker.

Opens On: June 9, 2023

Coming soon to theaters is Josh Greenbaum's live-action, animated comedy, Strays. The film is a blend of live-action and animation about an abandoned dog who teams up with fellow strays to exact vengeance against his former owner.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are attached to produce Strays, a blend of live-action and animation about an abandoned dog who teams up with fellow strays to exact vengeance against his former owner.

Will Ferrell will voice the lead character, Reggie, while Jamie Foxx will play one of his fellow strays and Will Forte will play his former owner. Strays is scheduled to release in the United States on June 9, 2023, by Universal Pictures.

Director Greta Gerwig will bring Mattel's renowned fashion doll line to the big screen next year. Gerwig undoubtedly has something special, humorous, emotional, and incredibly subversive in store for her live-action movie version of the Barbie dolls after her stellar adaptation of Little Women.

Barbie, which was co-written with Noah Baumbach, tells the story of the most famous doll of all time (Margot Robbie) as she is expelled from Barbieland and brought to our world.

Set to be released on July 21, 2023, the film stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, alongside such supporting players as Michael Cera, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, and Issa Rae.

11. Wonka

Opens On: December 15, 2023

Wonka is an upcoming musical fantasy film directed by Paul King from a screenplay written by Simon Farnaby and King. The movie is a prequel to Roald Dahl's 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

In this origin story, Timothée Chalamet assumes the eccentric role of a young Willy Wonka and depicts the aspiring chocolatier as he comes into contact with the Oompa-Loompas. 

Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, Keegan Michael-Key, and Rowan Atkinson round out the Grade-A cast.

12. Ghostbusters: Afterlife Sequel

12. Ghostbusters: Afterlife Sequel

Opens On: December 20, 2023

Unannounced screenings of Ghostbusters: Afterlife took place on August 23 as part of CinemaCon 2021 in Las Vegas. After being postponed four times from its initial July 2020 release date because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was finally made available in the United States on November 19, 2021. Mckenna Grace has been confirmed to return in a sequel, which will hit theaters on December 20, 2023.

There isn't much official information about this sequel, but we do know that director Jason Reitman will return, stars Carrie Coon and Finn Wolfhard are almost certainly coming back, and they might even be joined by co-star Paul Rudd and the remaining members of the original Ghostbusters. We also know that the firehouse from the first movies and New York, which was hinted at at the end of Afterlife, will be present in the movie's setting.

The following will also join the array of comic films in 2023 but the date of release has not been revealed yet.

Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lauren London, Sam Jay, Molly Gordon, Mike Epps, Nia Long, Deon Cole, Rhea Perlman, and David Duchovny are among the ensemble cast members of the movie. You People is slated for release on Netflix in 2023.

In addition to Richard Kind, it features Joaquin Phoenix, Nathan Lane, Patti LuPone, Amy Ryan, Kylie Rogers, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Michael Gandolfini, and Zoe Lister-Jones.
