Yeliz Korkmaz of Anne Yarısı Responds to Questions About Moving From TikTok Fame to Acting
Yeliz Korkmaz, who plays Nazlı in the Turkish series Anne Yarısı, airing Tuesday nights on NOW, did not leave a question about her switch from social media fame to acting unanswered. Known on TikTok as Semiraminta, Yeliz Korkmaz said: 'I'm in the same boat. Everyone should do what they love, everyone should chase their dreams.'
The comments were reported by Turkish journalist İbrahim Savun.
Asked about influencers becoming actors, Yeliz Korkmaz answered: "I'm in the same boat."
Social media personalities landing roles in TV series is a recurring debate among Turkish viewers. Rather than keeping her distance from the question, Yeliz Korkmaz placed herself squarely among those who made the jump.
Her short but clear answer looks at the influencer-actor debate from the point of view of someone who took that very path, and her words drew attention on social media.
Semiraminta reached 12.6 million TikTok followers before her first TV role in Rüya Gibi.
Yeliz Korkmaz, reportedly born in 1999, is from Istanbul. She first became known through her TikTok and Instagram posts. In an interview with Habertürk in February, she said her TikTok following had reached 12.6 million.
In the same interview she said she is an only child and that her interest in makeup came from her mother, a hairdresser.
After taking acting and on-camera training, Yeliz Korkmaz began appearing in TV series. Her first notable role was Sezen in Rüya Gibi on Show TV. At the time she said: 'Now I feel like I have taken my first step into the profession I dreamed of.'
