Surgeon Shares Shocking Before and After Photos of Young Man's Nose Transformation
Because the nose sits at the center of the face, it has a direct impact on both our appearance and how comfortably we breathe. An injury sustained in childhood can lead to aesthetic and functional problems years later. Today, rhinoplasty has become a relatively straightforward procedure, making it easier to address even long-standing issues.
A surgeon shared the story of a 25-year-old man who decided to have surgery 22 years after suffering lasting damage from a blow to the nose at age three. Before-and-after images from the five-hour operation won praise from viewers.

So, how is closed rhinoplasty performed?
One of the most common causes of breathing difficulties after an injury to the nose is a deviated septum. When septal correction is performed alongside cosmetic surgery, both the appearance and function of the nose can be addressed in a single procedure. Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia, and the length of the operation depends on its complexity.
In closed rhinoplasty, the incisions are made inside the nostrils, so no visible scars are left on the outside of the nose. Unlike the open technique, which involves an incision in the tissue between the tip of the nose and the upper lip, the structures at the base of the nose remain intact. The closed technique is generally used to address issues such as a hump on the nasal bridge or to reshape the tip. For more extensive corrections or noses that have already undergone surgery, surgeons often opt for the open technique.
Whether the procedure is for cosmetic or medical reasons, recovery takes patience. It can take months—and sometimes up to a year—for the nose to settle into its final shape. That’s why both appearance and breathing should be taken into account before deciding to have surgery. Breathing problems should be addressed promptly, as they can lead to other health issues over time.
