Single Ingredient From Your Fridge Makes Your Fan Blow Ice-Cold Air, Say Experts
With the arrival of summer, temperatures have skyrocketed to stifling levels. On these days, when it's even difficult to breathe in enclosed spaces, many of us find solace in front of fans. However, there's a well-known fact: fans don't actually cool the room, they simply circulate the hot air within.
Fortunately, there's a very simple method to genuinely cool your home and transform your fan into a virtual air conditioner, using an item found in everyone's kitchen: an old milk carton.
Fans do not eliminate the heat in a room; they merely facilitate the evaporation of sweat on our skin by stirring the air.
While this might provide a momentary relief, it doesn't actually lower the room temperature. However, the game changes when you place a frozen object in front of the fan. Ice absorbs the surrounding heat energy to melt; consequently, the fan then blows this resulting icy air into the room.
Any plastic bottle could work, but according to experts, empty milk cartons (large-sized, either cardboard or plastic) are tailor-made for this task. Milk cartons can hold more water and have a larger surface area. As a result, compared to a regular water bottle, they absorb the room's heat much more quickly and keep your home cool for a significantly longer period.
To implement this method in your home both safely and effectively, adhere to the following steps:
1. Partially Fill the Carton: Fill a clean milk carton with water, but only to about three-quarters (75%) of its capacity. Be careful not to fill it completely; this is because water expands when it freezes, which could potentially cause the carton to burst.
2. Freeze It: Put the prepared carton in the freezer and wait for it to freeze solid.
3. Take Precautions: Remove the frozen box from the freezer.
Place a towel underneath to prevent any condensation (sweat) or melting water from damaging your parquet floors or table.
4. Position Correctly: Place the box directly in front of the fan. Safety Note: Always ensure a safe distance between the box and the device to prevent moisture from reaching the fan's motor or electrical components.
5. Turn it On and Cool Down: Switch on your fan. The device will draw air from the back, blow it onto the ice cube, and spread it throughout your room, creating an instant air conditioning effect, no matter how hot it gets outside.
