The Contractor premiered in theaters and on streaming services on April 1st, 2022, using the pandemic-inspired premium video on demand release where one can rent the film for $19.99. Here are two other movies featuring the main actors together (both of which have better reviews than The Contractor)!
'The Finest Hours’
Streaming on Disney+
The Finest Hours tells the true story of the 1952 U.S. Coast Guard rescue of the SS Pendleton crew, with Chris Pine and Ben Foster portraying two of the rescuers. Directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya/Cruella), The Finest Hours is a pretty typical action film with a little bit of exciting acting, also with an appearance from Casey Affleck. The spectacle of the sinking ship aspect is a Titanic-like thrill.
‘Hell Or High Water’
Streaming on Netflix
Hell Or High Water is the real reason to undergo this pairing. Written by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, Sicario), this modernized Western sees two brothers, played by Pine and Foster, who plan some low-level bank robberies in a desperate attempt to save their family’s ranch. Unlike The Finest Hours, the acting in is this one is the main focus, with the great combined appeal of the two leads pitted against Jeff Bridges and Gil Birmingham playing Texas Rangers.
Plot of ‘The Contractor’
After an involuntary discharge from Special Forces, a former Marine embarks on a secret mission overseas with his old friend. Commanded by a veteran using this paramilitary group for his special operations, the Marine finds himself stuck in the middle of a larger conflict that he must escape from to get back to his family.
The Contractor shows up after a month or two on Paramount+, but if you cannot wait to complete this informal Chris Pine/Ben Foster trilogy, go see it in theaters or rent it now!
