Noboru Watanabe, an employee of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, was one of the people who tried out the new policy. The 50-year-old Watanabe initially said he was uncomfortable wearing shorts in the office, but quickly changed his mind.
Watanabe noted how comfortable he was after starting to wear shorts and particularly how much easier it made things during hot weather. On days when temperatures in the capital rose to 34 degrees, male workers have already started to ditch their suits in favor of shorts.

The new application was not received the same way by everyone. In Japan, some people consider the removal of the tie and jacket to be positive, but they think shorts are too casual for the office environment.
