Qala is the most recent project on the streamer, a Hindi psychological drama film directed by Anvita Dutt.

What’s ‘Qala’ About?

Set between the 1930s and 40s, Qala follows a daughter, Qala Manjushree, who yearns for her mother’s love as she navigates across the wave of fame and singing career. 

Qala was born and raised in Himachal Pradesh but later moved to Kolkata to pursue her music career and live her dreams. 

The movie focuses on Qala’s journey to success, but not without several challenges of a celebrity’s daily life.

Is there a Trailer for ‘Qala’?

Yes. Netflix India has unveiled the official trailer via its main YouTube Channel for the upcoming movie, Qala. The trailer is 2 minutes and 7 seconds long and offers a deeper description of the cast and movie. 

It starts with Qala describing her ‘hatred’ for music as she proceeds to the recording bay. Clearly, Qala’s mom is not in for her daughter’s passion for singing, fame, and success- everything. However, Qala doesn’t seem to stop seeking her mother’s love and keeping strong her singing career.

Qala is directed by Anvita Dutt and produced by Karnesh Ssharma as a project of Clean Slate Filmz.

Who Casts ‘Qala’?

Anvita Dutt’s Qala boasts many Indian talents, including Tripti Dimri, Amit Sial, Babil Khan, Swastika Mukherjee, Abishek Banerjee, Swanand Kirkire, and Varun Grover. 

Other characters include Samir Kochhar, Nikita Kapoor, Girija Oak Godbole, and Tasveer Kamil.

When is ‘Qala’ Dropping?

Qala will launch officially on Thursday, December 1st, exclusively on Netflix as a 1 hour and 59 minutes movie. 

Netflix India has been publicly excited about its upcoming project Qala, revealed through consistent updates via its main Twitter page. The sub-streaming platform has posted the trailer, posters, teasers, and behind-the-scene recordings to promote the upcoming movie. 

Netflix charges $6.99, $9.99, $15.49, and $19.99 for basic ad-supported, basic without ads, standard, and premium subscriptions.
