Netflix Reveals Release Date for ‘On My Block’s Spin-Off, ‘Freeridge’

Temperatures might be at their lowest, but it always gets better with a season of a teen comedy-drama show. Netflix recently revealed an addition to its 2023 premieres with the first season of Freeridge, a spin-off of Lauren Iungerich, Jeremy Haft, and Eddie Gonzalez’s On My Block. 

Netflix ordered the show Freeridge as a TV series in September 2021, whose filming began in May to July 2022 in Los Angeles. The show was offered a February 2023 premiere date with eight episodes for the first season.

Made by the creators of Netflix’s On My Block, Freeridge is a coming-of-age teen comedy-drama focusing on sibling rivalry with Ines and Gloria, alongside their peers Demi and Cameron. 

The spin-off is more mystical than its mother series as it follows the quadruplet unleashing a curse that brings unexpected problems into their lives.

Yes! Netflix uploaded the official teaser for Freeridge season one ten days ago, which has already surpassed half a million views. 

In 1 minute and 38 seconds, the teaser presents the siblings and their friends bringing themselves permanent misfortunes through a cursed box. The crew will face all sorts of problems together, possibly keeping their bond more potent than ever.

Freeridge is created by the On My Block trio, Haft, Gonzalez, and Iungerich, alongside Jamie Uyeshiro and Jamie Dooner as co-creators. 

The show is a co-project of Netflix Studios and Crazy Cat Lady Productions, with all five creators chiefly producing.

The first season of Freeridge boasts the talents of Bryana Salaz portraying Ines, Keyla Monterroso Mejia depicting Gloria, Tenzing Norgay Trainor playing Cameron, and Ciara Riley Wilson enacting Demi. 

The supporting actors include Peggy Blow (Marisol Martinez), Michael Solomon (Rusty), Zuleika Silva (Valeria), Christopher Jones (Manotaur), and Abraham Rodriguez (Benji).

Freeridge is set to debut on Thursday, February 2, 2023, with all eight episodes.
