HBO Max’s ‘The Tourist’ Proves Jamie Dornan Can Actually Act

As if his prominent role in Belfast was not enough to ensure his credibility, Jamie Dornan goes twice as far to erase his famous portrayal of Christian Grey in the new miniseries, The Tourist. The British-Australian collaboration, produced by Two Brothers Pictures, was released in 2022 on BBC One in the UK, Stan in Australia, and HBO Max in the US. With rave reviews and top-notch intensity, The Tourist is one of the best new shows to watch right now.

A foreign man in Australia with an unknown purpose gets in a car accident and wakes up in the hospital with amnesia. As he puts together the clues of his identity, mysterious people and circumstances start surrounding him and the two people who seem to be helping him.

Two Brothers Pictures has most famously produced for BBC shows like Fleabag and Back to Life, the founding brothers Harry and Jack Williams began the production company by releasing their original show, The Missing. Though they have several other shows, The Tourist already has the highest critical acclaim of their creations.

For those who like their TV shows to be like 6-hour movies, The Tourist is the perfect show. Though it starts slow and reveals little in the first episode, each passing hour yields greater tension and new evidence that keeps the viewer in suspense until the final minutes. Filling out the cast are many recognizable character actors, and a particularly notable Jamie Dornan broods as the main character in his most intense role ever. Not your average thriller, The Tourist makes you wait and rewards you for your patience.
