Hüseyin Altay, a jeweler in Eskişehir for over a quarter of a century, is making a concerted effort to pass on the historic 'Sivrihisar cebesi' weave, whose roots stretch back to the Phrygian era, to future generations. This centuries-old heritage, which is entirely shaped by handcraft and mastery, takes 4 days to create and its price exceeds 1 million TL.

Born in Istanbul and having taken over his father's profession, Hüseyin Altay focused on the production of Sivrihisar cebesi in the jewelry business, which he started as an apprentice after his middle school education. Altay, who points out that this special technique dates back to a deep-rooted history of 1500 to 1600 years, also noted that its origins can be traced back to the ancient Phrygian civilization. The master jeweler emphasized that the metal armor weaves worn by soldiers for protection centuries ago have over time transformed into an aesthetic jewelry form. He mentioned encountering authentic examples dating back 300 years in old cemeteries and family chests.
Its production takes 4 days and the price exceeds 1 million TL.
Hüseyin Altay, who stated that traditional motifs are predominantly crafted using 22-carat gold, noted that the average models find buyers within the price range of 600,000 to 1 million lira. The 'Sivrihisar cebesi', which takes four days to make, occasionally exceeds a price of 1 million lira.
