According to Independent, director Matthew Vaughn responded to the criticism in an interview with Empire.
Vaughn stated, 'We had fantastic test screenings. The premiere night was incredibly fun. It felt like going back to the Snatch days. Everything was very exciting. Okay, we didn't make a Citizen Kane-level film, but I thought Argylle was a feel-good and enjoyable movie.'
Vaughn, finding the critics overly aggressive, continued,
'I ask myself what I did to offend these people. The aggressive criticism surprised me. But there's no need to dwell on it! I'm considering making another film about Argylle. Nothing would make me happier than doing it again.'
