Age Limit for Social Media Imposed!
The AKP group has submitted a bill to the Parliament, which includes an age limit for social media and an extension of maternity leaves. The proposed bill includes a regulation for children under 15 to use social media. It is also proposed to extend maternity leaves in both public and private sectors.
Maternity leave is being extended.

The new legislative proposal presented to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey includes provisions for extending maternity leave and imposing a social media ban for children under the age of 15. According to the proposal, amendments will be made to the Civil Servants Law and the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law to facilitate the extension of maternity leave.
If the proposal becomes law, maternity leave for women in both the public and private sectors will be extended to 24 weeks. Paternity leave, currently set at 5 days, will be doubled to 10 days.
A social media ban is on the horizon for children under the age of 15.

One of the standout provisions in the proposal is the regulation concerning children's use of social media. With the amendment to Law No. 5651, social network providers will be required to establish effective age verification systems to block registrations of children under 15, and to provide parental control tools, all aimed at ensuring the safety of children in the digital world.
Should the proposal become law, children under 15 will not be permitted to open accounts on social media. Furthermore, for those over 15, parents will have the ability to intervene within an hour.
