Turning this idea into a commercial product, Gerstenzang developed a practical auxiliary product that could be used in sensitive areas and for baby care.
Of course, its first name was not 'ear swab' as it is today. It hit the market in the 1920s under the name Baby Gays. The name was later changed to Qtips. It was stated that the letter 'Q' stands for 'quality', and 'tips' refers to the cotton ends.
In the initial advertising, the main use of the product was not ear cleaning. Baby care, cosmetic applications, small care procedures, and cleaning of sensitive areas were emphasized.
