The main reason for this was the fact that the film was a musical.
One of the people who didn't like Joker: Folie à Deux was Paul Schrader, the screenwriter of Taxi Driver.
Both film critics and audiences heavily criticized the sequel to the 2019 Joker film.
The 78-year-old American director, in an interview with Interview magazine, said,
'I go to the movies based on what’s being released. I watched Joker: Folie à Deux and I could only last 25 minutes. Even that was enough to declare it a really bad musical.'
The famous director didn’t hold back from criticizing the film's lead actors, Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, either.
He added in the interview, 'I don’t like them. I don’t like either of them. I don’t like them as characters, and I don’t like anything about them. These are the kind of people you’d run out the back door if they came to your house.'
