What to Expect on the West Side Story?

Like any other musical comedy, West Side Story talks about two teenage lovebirds whose families and friends are in a deep rivalry. In this case, Tony is the Romeo while Maria is the Juliet. The hostility is between the two groups, Puerto Ricans and the Sharks (leader of the jets). Officer Krupke and Lieutenant. Schrank is leading the Ricans towards the Sharks, creating a 'thunder' between the two.

During the night dance, Riff (Jet's leader) decides to challenge Bernardo (Shark's leader). He plans to lure Tony, his best friend, who was previously engaged with the jets to get back to the gang. He is not so sure if Tony will fall for the trick. After some persuasion, Tony side-heartedly agrees to the plan.

There's some heavy tension on the dance night between the gangs. Tony finally arrives; he gets in love-at-first-sight with Maria, Bernardo's younger sister. They end up dancing together, an act that Bernardo displeases Bernardo. This incident leads to a fistfight, which triggers Tony into murdering Bernardo.
