They can also be easy to overlook or even ignore which can lead to numerous accidents. That’s why countries around the world continue to test technological solutions designed to make both pedestrians and drivers more alert, particularly after dark.

A smart pedestrian crossing captured at an intersection in China has drawn attention as one such innovation. When the light was green, the crossing’s stripes glowed green and a countdown appeared. As the signal turned red, the stripes changed to red, while the words “Do not cross on red” and “STOP” were projected onto the road. The footage left viewers amazed.
