The world's most challenging recruitment process. Out of 800,000 applicants, a mere 286 were hired.

According to official statistics released by Italy-based tech company Bending Spoons, a staggering 800,000 applicants from around the world applied for jobs last year. Out of this vast pool of applicants, a mere 286 individuals were able to join the company's ranks. These figures translate into an acceptance rate of 0.036%, which is approximately 100 times more selective than the acceptance rate of Harvard University, widely regarded as one of the world's most prestigious educational institutions.

The company's mind-boggling recruitment method.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the company's recruitment process radically deviates from conventional human resources practices. The process kicks off with a colossal test marathon, immediately following the initial screening after CV review.

A whopping 60,000 candidates are subjected to tests based on scientific algorithms that measure logical reasoning, quick decision-making, reaction in crisis, and learning speed. Only 3,300 candidates who successfully complete this stage earn the right to sit at the interview table. At the end of the process, a mere 286 of the most resilient and compatible candidates are incorporated into the permanent staff, referred to internally as 'Spooner'.

The company's CEO, Luca Ferrari, who harshly criticizes traditional hiring methods, made the following assessment:

'Holding an ordinary job interview is almost as effective as flipping a coin when it comes to understanding what a candidate will bring to the company. We have completely transformed the recruitment process into a scientific, measurable, and standardized structure to eliminate this guessing game.'

The Milan-based tech giant standardizes interview questions entirely, scoring each candidate's response based on objective criteria. All collected data are transferred to AI-supported performance prediction models. The system analyzes the candidate's past references and test results, simulating their success graph for the upcoming years.

However, getting on Bending Spoons' radar is not just about high intelligence or technical skills. The company's algorithm also maps out the candidates' 'politeness and communication'. CEO Luca Ferrari emphasizes that candidates who act overly polite towards senior executives but disrespectful towards other employees or lower-ranking staff are directly eliminated. Such behavioral patterns are coded by the AI algorithm as a 'risk factor that will disrupt team harmony in the future'.
