Remember the Shrek spinoff Puss in Boots (2011)? This animation film is now streaming on Prime Video, making it a perfect family time watch.
Puss in Boots was released on October 28 2011, in USA theaters, grossing $555 million on a budget of $130 million. It also received an accolade for Best Animated Feature at the 84th Academy Awards.
The animation film is a production of DreamWorks Animation. It is directed by Chris Miller, who also worked on Shrek the Third (2007) from Tom Wheeler's screenplay.
Reprising his voice cast role as Puss in Boots from the Shrek franchise is Antonio Banderas. Puss is a fugitive who becomes the hero of San Ricardo. Joining Banderas is an amazing ensemble cast including Salma Hayek as Kitty Softpaws, Zach Galifianakis as Humpty Alexander Murphy, Billy Bob Thornton and Anny Sedaris as Jack and Jill respectively, Mike Mitchell as Andy ‘Jack’ Beanstalk, Chris Miller as Friar Miller, Little Boy Blue, Rafael, Prison Guard and Manuel. Constance Marie as Imelda and Guillermo del Toro as Commandante.
Puss in Boots narrates the story of Puss, an outlaw cat and the childhood friend of Humpty. Humpty tricks Puss into stealing from the town's bank, and they escape, which costs them their friendship. Later Puss meets Kitty Softpaws, a seductive cat sent by Humpty to search for the eggs of the golden goose.
So as Puss joins forces with Humpty and Kitty Softpaws, his wish is to get the golden eggs to repay his town and clear his tainted name, but Humpty has his own malicious intention.

Puss in Boots has an 86% rating on the Rotten Tomatoes meter, with several upraise from critics. Mike Massie (Gone with The Twins) stared, 'The laughs are mostly derived from situational comedy, making it more universal than Shrek's pop-culture-heavy referential skits.'
