The Sale Of Wet Wipes Will Be Banned in Turkey
The European Union recently imposed restrictions on the sale of wet wipes made from non-biodegradable, plastic-containing materials in member countries. It has been alleged that the Ministry of Trade in Turkey is also considering a similar measure. With the Ministry's new regulation, the sale of wet wipes in supermarkets will be banned in Turkey, which is among the countries with the highest consumption of wet wipes worldwide.

Wet wipes, offering a practical solution for cleanliness, are often the go-to product for many individuals due to their convenience.

According to a report in Sözcü, Turkey, one of the countries with the highest consumption of wet wipes worldwide, is preparing a significant initiative related to the sale of these products.
The Ministry of Commerce is gearing up to ban the sale of wet wipes in supermarkets, in an effort to curb the environmental damage caused by these plastic-based products, unlike toilet papers.
Sales restrictions had been imposed in the European Union.

The European Union, through a decision it made, had prohibited the sale of wet wipes containing plastic and non-biodegradable substances in member countries starting from January 1, 2026.
Wet wipes, along with the damage they inflict on the environment, also impose a heavy burden on sewage systems. Experts point out that half of the blockages occurring in domestic plumbing systems stem from these non-biodegradable wet wipes.
