AirDrop is now making its way to Android phones as well.
The Verge has announced that Apple's beloved feature, AirDrop, will be coming to Android phones. Currently, Android devices have a similar feature to AirDrop known as Quick Share (formerly Nearby Share). By 2026, Google and manufacturers plan to make Quick Share compatible with Apple's AirDrop protocol.
The introduction of AirDrop to Android phones will enable file transfers from an Android phone to an iPhone (or vice versa) without the need for any other application.
During the Android Show broadcast, a list of all the phones currently eligible for AirDrop support on Quick Share was shared. Meanwhile, Google conveyed that Xiaomi plans to provide support this year. However, it is not yet known which Xiaomi models will receive AirDrop support.
The models currently supported are as follows:
Samsung: Galaxy S26 series
Google: Pixel 10 series, 9 series, 8a
OPPO: Find X9 series, Find N6
Vivo: X300 Ultra
So, which Android models will receive the AirDrop feature?

So, when will the AirDrop feature be available?
The AirDrop feature was announced at a special event for Android 17, held by Google on May 12. It was disclosed that this feature started to be rolled out to Android phones as of May 12, and it will be fully available within the coming month. Moreover, the company stated that it will introduce the Quick Share feature in some popular apps.
