It's Thursday, March 10, and the eagerly awaited children's fantasy series, Theodosia, premieres today on HBO Max. The HBO Max original series is produced by Cottonwood Media, Globe, HBO and ZDF and is based on New York Times best-selling author Robin La Fevers' novel.
What Happens in Theodosia
An ancient Egyptian adventure based in 1906, the trailer features two kids, 14-year-old Theodosia and her younger brother Henry who discover the 'Eye' resting on a mummy's chest. The discovery marks a turning point for Theodosia as she begins to detect ancient curses. Henry, however, thinks she's playing with him saying, 'I'm not falling for one of your jokes.'
Returning home in London, Theodosia realizes that her newfound ability has also drawn a great risk to herself and her loved ones. To fight the evil ancient forces, Theo puts together a team comprising of her brother, Egyptian princess Safiya and their friend Will. See the video below:
Who Casts in Theodosia?
Eloise Little plays Theodosia, Frankie Minchella stars as Henry, Nana Agyeman-Bediako plays Will, while Yasmina El-Abd plays Safiya. Other cast members included in the action-adventure series are Rik Young as Alistair Throckmorton, Elisa Doughty as Henrietta Throckmorton, Momo Young as Miss Krait, Anthony J. Abraham as Artie, Charlie Cattrall as Yaret the Chief Serpent, Olivia Barrowclough as Nigella, Nahid Leader as Queen Hatshepsut, Trine Thieten as the Flautist, Barbara Hellemans as Living Mummy, Berthe Tanwo Njole as Florence, Manzul Tavrus as Aapep, Salim Kissari as Overseer, Swan L’Haoua as Safiya’s dad and Axel Baile as Serpent.
Theodosia is directed by Alex Jacob, Matthias Hoene and Matt Bloom, where production kicked off in April last year in Brussels and Paris. The series' head writer Joe Williams also serves as an executive producer joined by Leila Smith. Rounding up the crew members are Cécile Lauritano, David Michel and Zoé Carrera Allaix, serving as producers.
