In an interview with Binnaz Saktanber, a writer for T24, Selin Şekerci made striking remarks about the age discrimination that women face in the acting industry.

While discussing her latest project published on the digital platform, the actress drew attention to a persistent issue in the industry, revealing that she had lost many opportunities simply due to her age.

Şekerci critiqued the age standard applied between male and female actors, particularly pointing out that producers still prefer to see women in their early twenties opposite male actors who have passed the age of 35.

The successful actress described her predicament in the industry with the following words:

'Why can't I act alongside actors of my own age? They want to see young girls of 23 or 24 next to men over 35. I've lost many roles because of this. I'm considered too old for my peers. Even though I don't look it, I'm also deemed too old for those older than me. They say, 'She can't play a mother, she's too young.' What exactly am I supposed to do?'
