> RAVE Reviews Reveals the Most Hated Gaming Company and We’re Not Surprised

A social media analysis and experiment conducted by the all-around, data-driven recommendations source website, RAVE Reviews, reveals the most hated gaming company right now—and the answer might not really be surprising for those who have been part of the gaming community for a while now.

According to RAVE Reviews through its research tool, SentiStrength, the most hated gaming company is none other than the French video gaming company known for its corporate greed (well, at least according to some people within the gaming community), Ubisoft. The research was conducted through the analysis of more than one million tweets that are related to certain brands in the industry. These tweets were then analyzed with regard to their content—whether they were positive or negative.

The research done by RAVE Reviews involved several categories, and one of these is the gaming industry. The other categories analyzed by RAVE Review’s research were overall hated brands, most hated fast-food brands, and most hated big tech brands. Although Ubisoft has brought us amazing games and franchises, such as the Assassin’s Creed series (not all of them were good, though), Far Cry, Tom Clancy’s, and Prince of Persia (the spiritual “predecessor” of the Assassin’s Creed series), the massive video gaming company is notorious for its unfriendly and greedy business model and “restrictive DRM features” when it comes to its games.

As you can clearly see, Ubisoft is the most hated gaming company in at least 23 countries based on tweets analysis, which is more than twice the number of countries that hate the second most-hated gaming company, Capcom.

Other video game companies that follow Ubisoft’s dirty and most-hated footsteps include Capcom (a total of nine countries), Game Freak (four countries), Konami (three countries), and Activision (only two countries, which may actually be surprising for most gamers).

Interestingly enough, Game Freak has a 100% “hate rate” in Canada (100% of tweets from Canada about Game Freak is negative) and almost 97% in the United States despite only ranking third in the list, being most-hated in “only” four countries. Unlike Game Freak, however, Ubisoft didn’t receive a 100% “hate rate” from any of the countries involved in the research. Nonetheless, it remains to be the most hated gaming company in terms of overall percentage accumulated in all the countries.
