10+ ‘My 600-Lb Life’ Unfortunate Deaths
My 600-lb Life is an American reality television program that has been broadcast on the TLC network since 2012. The attempts of severely obese persons to decrease weight to a healthy level over the period of a year are detailed in each episode. These people usually weigh at least 600 pounds when the program begins (270 kg).
Many who joined the show successfully lost their weight but not everyone has been fortunate, as seen by the mounting number of My 600-lb Life fatalities.
1. Henry Foots
Henry's weight decreased from 750 pounds to 275 pounds after undergoing gastric bypass surgery, a strict diet plan, and an exercise routine. The surgery to remove the extra skin went well, despite his heart briefly stopping during the procedure. 2013 saw the tragic death of Henry Foots, which devastated many spectators.
2. Robert Buchel
After having a lymphedema mass surgically removed, he shed 124 pounds. After having surgery to remove excess body fat, Robert Buchel dropped 340 pounds, but a few months later he became addicted to painkillers. He resisted getting out of bed and exercising when Dr. Now tried to wean him off the painkillers. At the age of 41, Robert passed away from a heart attack on November 15, 2017.
3. James Bonner
He thanked everyone for their support on Facebook before taking his own life. He was found dead in a park ditch in Lexington, South Carolina, with what seemed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
As a result of his food and booze addiction, he put on 642 pounds. James joined My 600 lb Life after undergoing gastric bypass surgery, which helped him lose over half of his body weight.
When the sixth season of the show concluded, he weighed 316 pounds. Bonner weighed roughly 200 pounds before he passed away.
4. Lisa Fleming
She clocked in at almost 700 pounds. She remained bedridden for years, unable to take care of herself without the help of her kids. Lisa was prepared to adapt in order to watch her grandchildren mature. When she found maggots in her skin folds, she realized she needed assistance. She was 50 when she passed away from a sudden heart attack in her Texas home.
5. Kelly Mason
She lost 300 pounds after weighing over 700. In addition to following the diet, Kelly would also get physical and occupational therapy. On February 15, 2019, a few days before turning 42, Kelly Mason passed away from heart failure while she slept.
6. Sean Milliken
Sean's weight when he first went on the show was 900 pounds; he has since shed 400 pounds. Sadly, his mother gave him junk food and pushed him to disregard Dr. Now's counsel. His weight increase was influenced by the inundation from Hurricane Harvey and the passing of his mother.
Two weeks after his return to the hospital, he developed an infection that caused a cardiac arrest (a heart attack).
7. James King
He had 840 pounds on him. Along with having high blood pressure, he also had cellulitis, sepsis, anemia, kidney failure, liver cirrhosis, and high blood pressure.
He used a GoFundMe campaign to pay for his groceries, rent, and other bills while he was in the ICU. The father of six boys and four girls had shed 340 pounds before his passing. The 49-year-old passed away at Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville on April 3, 2020.
8. Coliesa McMillian
Coliesa, who had travelled to Houston, Texas, for weight-loss surgery, weighed 643 pounds. Her weight loss of about 150 pounds was made possible by the treatment.
In June, Coliesa's family made public the fact that she had been put on life support as a result of serious complications after one of her operations. The 41-year-old passed away in a hospital close to her house on September 22, 2020. Investigations into her death are ongoing.
9. Renee Biran
It was determined that Renee had Guillain-Barré Syndrome. She had shed roughly 250 pounds and weighed 631 pounds. Although her cause of death was not disclosed, others theorized that her diagnosis was to blame. Lung clots, heart arrest, blood infections, and muscle paralysis that impairs breathing are among the complications of the syndrome.
10. Gina Krasley
Gina Krasley and her spouse came on the program. She struggled with feeling neglected as a child and turned to eat for consolation. As a result, she put on a lot of weight.
Sadly, Gina, 30, passed away on August 1st, 2021, with her family at her side. She received home care but passed away two days before her neurology visit.
11. Destinee LaShaee
Because the socialite didn't picture herself still living the following year, she felt the performance would help her bury herself. She weighed 700 pounds when she started the show, but as it went on, she lost more than 500 pounds. Her brother, Wayne Compton, announced Destinee's passing in a Facebook post.
