Meteorology Warns of Sudden Temperature Drop and Heavy Rainfall Across Turkey This Wednesday
The General Directorate of Meteorology (GDM) has published a crucial weather forecast report for the upcoming week. Across the country, the weather temperatures, which have been hovering around seasonal norms, are set to give way to heavy downpours and strong winds with the onset of the new week. The Meteorology department has disclosed the critical date for the rainfall.
The Meteorology Department has announced: With the advent of the new week, we're in for a spell of cold weather and heavy rain.
Turkey is bracing for a sudden change in weather as the new week begins. According to the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, starting from today, there will be transitions of showers in the Inner Anatolia, Marmara, Eastern Anatolia, Northern Aegean, and eastern parts of the Mediterranean. In addition to the rainy weather, southerly winds are expected to be effective in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions.
While the weather temperatures are predicted to drop between 2 to 4 degrees in the northern and inland regions, no significant temperature change is anticipated in other areas. However, the real major shift is set to knock on the door in the middle of the week.
Keep an eye out for Wednesday! Temperatures are set to plummet in Istanbul.
The showers that have been making their presence felt regionally since the start of the week are set to virtually engulf the entire country from Wednesday onwards. According to forecasts, as of Wednesday, thunderstorms will start to dominate throughout Turkey.
The megacity of Istanbul is also getting its share of this sudden weather shift. It's predicted that starting from Wednesday, temperatures in Istanbul will drop by 3 to 4 degrees all at once, and the downpours are expected to intensify across the city.
Beware of floods and flying roofs!
Meteorology experts have announced that heavy rainfall is expected in the eastern part of Marmara and throughout the Western and Central Black Sea regions, excluding Sinop. These localized showers, which are also anticipated to hit the northern parts of Central Anatolia, have heightened the risks of flash floods, waterlogging, lightning strikes, and transportation disruptions. Authorities underline the need for residents in these areas to take precautions against potential floods and waterlogging.
Wind speed is also set to increase in tandem with the rainfall. Strong winds are predicted in the southwest of Marmara, Southern and Central Aegean, Western Mediterranean, and the southwestern parts of Central Anatolia. Due to the storm-like winds, caution is advised against potential hazards such as flying rooftops and falling trees.
