Two amateur treasure hunters, who roam the fields with a metal detector as a weekend hobby in England, struck it rich. A high-pitched signal from the device led them to a treasure worth 19 million lira (approximately 400 thousand dollars) that is 3,000 years old. Moreover, this fortune was just a few centimeters below their feet.

In the rural area of Carlisle, a city close to the border of Scotland in England, two friends named Andy and Alan were conducting an ordinary scan in the field with their metal detectors. In fact, they had attended an event organized to protest an infrastructure project in the region. However, the signal from the detector changed everything.
When they dug only a few centimeters into the ground, they encountered a shining yellow object in the mud. As they dug, another one appeared, and then another. What they found were three ancient bracelets (torcs) made of solid gold, dating back to 1100 BC, that is, the Bronze Age.

Experts note that such ancient jewelry usually reaches us in broken pieces. Finding a single torc in its entirety is a big event, let alone finding three in the same pit in perfect condition, which is literally a one in a million chance.
Due to their historical rarity alone, the market value of the artifacts is estimated to be well above 19 million lira (400,000 dollars).

The two friends did not rush to the jeweler with the treasure they found. According to British laws, the situation of such historical artifacts unearthed is subject to strict rules. The artifacts have now been handed over to the British Museum, one of the largest museums in the world.
Experts have put the gold under a microscope. After the official examinations are made, a decision will be made on whether the artifacts will be given 'treasure' status. If approved, these two lucky friends will likely be rewarded by the museum.
