HBO Max Just Launched This Original Show That Already Has a Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Rating

It's provocative and comical! HBO Max drops a new original sitcom Minx on Thursday, March 17. Set in the 1970s Los Angeles, Minx follows an earnest young feminist who agrees to work with a low-paying publisher to create a pioneer erotic magazine for women. 

I am so excited about this series, mainly because it presents an ensemble cast of some of my favorite comedy actors, including Jake Johnson, Lennon Parham, Jessica Lowe and Ophelia Lovibond among others.

Minx is the name of the erotic magazine that editor Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond) is working on. The owner of the adult magazine is Doug (Jake Johnson). As Joyce attends a work meeting to discuss a nude male centerfold for their first Minx issue, she thinks out loud if erections are consistent with society's philosophy. Doug, her publisher comments, 'I think you're missing the point of a centerfold. What matters is does it turn you on?” 

HBO Max amazingly strikes a balance between comedy and serious feminist topics, serving up a breezy romp. And, of course, comedy can never go wrong with Johnson in the mix. It’s no surprise that Minx already has a 92% rating on the Tomatometer with 99% positive remarks from top critics.

The series' first two episodes, 'Pilot' and 'Au Revoir, Le Double Dong', air today. The following episodes will be released in a duo every Thursday thereafter. So, expect episode 3, 'A Roll of Film, A 3-Iron and Pearl Necklace', and episode 4, 'An Exciting New Chapter in The Annals of Erotica', to premiere next Thursday, March 24. 

The other episodes include episode 5: 'Just Relaying News About A Wayward Snake', episode 6: 'A Feminist with Frisson', episode 7: 'God Save The Queen of Dicks', episode 8: 'Oh, You're the Sun Now? Giver of Life?', episode 9: 'We're Gonna Need More Tinsel' and episode 10: 'You Happened to Me.'

Lovibond and Johnson are joined by Idara Victor as Tina, Jessica Lowe as Bambi, Lennon Parham as Shelly, Timothy E. Goodwin as Norman, Giuliana Gutierrez as Mindy, Kim Senseras Staci, Maddy Caddell as Linda and Alicia Hannah-Kim as Wendy Mah.
