Before the song began, the performer addressed the audience.
After forming on the stage of The X Factor in 2010, One Direction quickly became one of the most talked-about pop groups in the world, dominating the music scene for years. The five-member band held a special place in the hearts of millions of fans, but in 2016 they put their career together on indefinite hiatus, and each member began making music on his own. The group was shaken by Liam Payne’s death, and it was reported that the members came together for the first time at his funeral.
Before launching into the song, Styles told the audience how lucky he felt to be performing on this stage in New York and said the venue held a special place in his heart. The singer shared that exactly two years earlier, on that day, he had lost a friend. After asking the audience’s permission, he performed a song he had written for him.
