In one scene from Gladiator 2's trailer, Connie Nielsen, reprising her role as Lucilla, confesses to her son Lucius that his father is Maximus.

Gladiator 2 follows the story of Lucius, the grandson of Rome’s former emperor Marcus Aurelius.

Lucius is played by Paul Mescal, General Marcus Acacius by Pedro Pascal, Macrinus by Denzel Washington, and Emperor Geta by Joseph Quinn.
