Forget Gold: Islam Memis Reveals the New Champion Investment Asset for 2027 and 2028
In recent years, silver, which has brought a smile to the face of its investors, has virtually overtaken gold. As the safe haven has been maintaining a stagnant course in recent months, a fresh perspective has emerged from Islam Memiş. Offering his insights on gold, Islam Memiş stated that silver will be the champion investment tool for the years 2027 to 2028.
A radical shift in direction is anticipated in the markets post-2026.
As investors grapple with charting their course, Finance Expert Islam Memiş made groundbreaking predictions in his weekly market assessment. In this period where markets are faced with sharp fluctuations, Memiş shared strategic levels for stocks, foreign exchange, gold, silver, oil, and crypto assets, particularly emphasizing an anticipated radical shift in direction for 2026 and beyond. Drawing attention to the risks involved in short-term buy-sell transactions, Memiş underscored the importance of a long-term investment strategy in financial assets.
What's the latest on gold prices? Has there been an increase in the price of silver?
The global rise in bond yields and strengthening of the dollar index have put significant pressure on precious metals. The price of gold per ounce closed the week with a loss of 2.37%, at $4,540. Memiş, who argues that this fluctuation in gold prices is temporary, maintained that the validity of the $3,880 to $5,880 range for gold per ounce remains in the long term. On the domestic market, it was observed that the price of gold per gram stabilized at levels of 6,683 TL in the free market.
Silver Prices
The most drastic price movements of the week were recorded in the silver market. Memiş stated that the price of silver per ounce dropped sharply from $88 to $76, which pulled the price of silver per gram in the domestic market from 127 TL to 111 TL. During the period when the gold-to-silver ratio dropped from 60 to 53, he added that the medium-term year-end expectation for silver was $96.
"I have some cash on hand. Should I invest in gold or silver?"
Islam Memiş, in addressing the strategic question that piques investors' curiosity the most, pointedly identified silver as the go-to for those with cash on hand. Memiş, suggesting that the long-term performance of silver holds a potential stronger than that of gold, shared the following insights:
'I have a long-term strategy. I can wait for a year, even two. Silver may not be the champion of 2026, but in my view, it will be the champion of 2027 and 2028. Therefore, I believe it's vital not to neglect the silver side. Our expectation for an upward trend continues. My target is to reach the level of 96 dollars by the end of the year.'
Attention Stock Market Investors: What's in Store for the Stock Market?
The Borsa Istanbul 100 (BIST 100) index concluded the week at 14,367 points, marking a 1.89% loss, under the influence of global selling pressure and domestic dynamics. Market expert Islam Memiş, evaluating this pullback, reminded that the previously closely watched levels of 14,900 and 14,800 points were critical support points.
Despite the short-term downward movements observed in the index, Memiş emphasized that there is no room for pessimism, stating that the medium and long-term positive outlook is maintained. With the onset of a permanent upward trend in the stock market, he conveyed that the target levels of 16,000 and subsequently 20,000 points remain valid in the upcoming period.
