The Japanese drama series, My Family will be added to Disney Plus's back catalogue anytime this year, making it the second TBS drama on the streaming platform after 2021's Tokyo MER.
My Family first aired its first episode on TBS on April 10 2022 and is still ongoing with a weekly release till its finale scheduled for a June 12, 2022, release.
The 10-episode series follows the story of a young couple, Haruto Narusawa, the CEO of a gaming enterprise Harukana Online Games and his wife Michiru, an SNS influencer, who try all means to get their kidnapped daughter Tomoka back without involving the police.
The young family resides in the well-off coastal town of Kamakura. However, their normal life is disrupted one day when Haruto gets home from work to receive a call that their daughter has been kidnapped, with her kidnappers demanding a 500-million-yen ransom.
The police launch an investigation headed by Chief Inspector Yoshino. The police team, including officer Keishi Katsuragi, get to Haruto’s home, where he receives a work call about an emergency from his business partner Kanako.
As the clock continues to tick, Haruto feels the pressure of raising the ransom cash and decides to seek help from a certain party. At the same time, desperate Michiru asks her college friends Aoi and Itsuki for help.
Starring in the main roles, Kazunari Ninomiya plays Haruto Narusawa while Mikako Tabe plays Michiru Narusawa.
The ensemble cast holding supporting roles include Miyu Oshima as Tomoka, Tomizawa as Yoshino Eitaro, Maryjun Takahashi as Tatewaki Kanako, Kento Kaku as Aoi Miwa, Hamada Gaku as Itsuki Todo, Kanno Misuzi as Mayumi Narusawa, Haruto’s mother, Otomo Kohei as Makimura Masafumi, Michiru’s father.
My family is directed by Hirano Shunichi from a screenplay by Kuroiwa Tsutomu.
When Will 'My Family' Premiere on Disney+
Though Disney+ hasn’t revealed the official release date of the Japanese series, it is set to follow the conclusion of its TBS broadcast. So, we expect My Family to land on Disney+ anytime from June end.
