An intriguing project that could revolutionize the concept of hospitality in China is in the works. The hotel, set to open on an artificial island over the ShenzhenZhongshan Link, plans to delegate a multitude of tasks such as reception, room service, cleaning, luggage handling, and guest support to robots. This innovative approach aims to redefine traditional hotel operations, potentially setting a new standard in the industry.

The most striking aspect of the next-generation hotel is the plan to have robots undertake a variety of tasks within the same service system. It's envisioned that robots will be employed in areas such as reception, check-in, room service, cleaning, food and beverage service, luggage handling, and guest support.

In this system, instead of using a one-size-fits-all robot, different robot models will be utilized for different tasks. Some robots will welcome guests, others will deliver orders to rooms, some will be responsible for cleaning, while others will handle tasks like luggage transportation.

What sets this project apart from a typical 'robotic hotel' experiment is that the robots will not operate in isolation from each other. The hotel aims to be run with an artificial intelligence-supported closed-circuit service network. Consequently, the goal is for the robots to communicate over the same system and collaboratively manage different processes within the hotel.

The initial trials are set to kick off towards the end of 2026.

The full opening of the hotel is slated for 2027. The first visitors will have the opportunity to experience services such as robot-assisted reception, smart check-in, and autonomous room delivery. This will ensure that the system is tested with real guests prior to the full launch.

It is indicated that the hotel will consist of 44 high-standard rooms. The project will also include a restaurant, a gym, and various other areas for guests to utilize.

West Artificial Island, where the hotel will be established, is being developed not just as a lodging point, but as a tourism area with a focus on robotics and technology. Consequently, if the project proves successful, it is anticipated that robot-assisted services will expand to broader tourism and accommodation areas of the island in the years to come.
