Beachgoer Tries to Save Starfish Only to Have It Snatched Mid-Air by a Hungry Seagull

Starfish are among nature’s most remarkable creatures. With their striking shapes and vivid colors, they’re true jewels of the sea. When we find one washed ashore, our first instinct is often to return it to the water. But nature doesn’t always follow the well-meaning script we have in mind.

A user named “kocaenes” shared footage of the moment they tossed a starfish they’d found on the shore back into the sea, captioning it, “Well, that didn’t go as planned.” As soon as it hit the water, gulls swooped in. Viewers winced as one of the birds snatched the starfish and flew off with it within seconds.
