The renowned tech giant has been sued for allegedly paying over 12,000 female employees in California less than their male counterparts for similar jobs.
The lawsuit was initially filed by two women who have worked at Apple for over a decade. They claim that the company deliberately pays female employees in engineering, marketing, and AppleCare departments less than their male colleagues.
Rumors suggest that the company bases starting salaries on employees' previous wages or salary expectations, leading to lower pay rates for women. The lawsuit also alleges that Apple provides smaller raises and bonuses to female employees.
Apple has responded by stating that since 2017, it has taken gender pay equality into account. They emphasized that they work with an external expert each year to ensure that team members receive equal pay.
