Apple Reveals First Foldable Phone: iPhone Duo Features and Specs
In a much-anticipated launch event, Apple made history by officially introducing its first foldable screen smartphone, the iPhone Duo. The device, which has been in the works for years, signals a new era in the tech world for the brand. It stands out with its revolutionary hardware features and a design that almost completely eliminates any trace of folding.
The iPhone Duo offers 120 Hz ProMotion OLED panels that measure 5.5 inches (1422x2088 pixels) when closed, and expand to 7.76 inches (1920x2713 pixels) when opened.
These screens, possessing a 4:3 aspect ratio, can function as two separate displays or unite to form a single larger screen. The model also holds the distinction of being the first iPhone to support the Apple Pencil.
Available in blue and white color options, the device reaches a thickness of approximately 4.5 mm when unfolded. The company has opted for a hybrid body infrastructure of titanium and aluminum to prevent bending. The folding mark in the middle of the screen has been minimized thanks to special liquid metal hinges and adhesives with optical clarity.
At the heart of the device lies Apple's next-generation A20 Pro processor, manufactured using a 2 nm architecture.
This powerful chip is accompanied by 12 GB RAM and storage options ranging from 256 GB to 2 TB. The device also employs a second-generation Apple C2 modem, promising uninterrupted internet access via satellite. Owing to space constraints, the device, which comes with the iOS 27 operating system right out of the box, replaces Face ID with a Touch ID fingerprint reader integrated into the side button.
Due to its slim casing, the rear panel does not accommodate a telephoto lens; instead, it features a dual setup consisting of a 48 MP main camera and a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. On the front, there's a 12 MP selfie camera. Although the official capacity has yet to be announced, it is suggested that the device comes with a dual-cell battery ranging between 5,400 mAh and 5,800 mAh, along with support for MagSafe wireless charging.
