X Cyber Attack: Elon Musk Points Fingers to "Ukraine IP"
X has been hit by a 'massive cyber attack', according to Elon Musk. More than 40,000 users reported they could not access X on Monday, according to data from tracking websites. The boss of the social platform claims an Ukrainian based IP address is behind the attacks.
In the earlier hours of the cyber attacks, Elon Musk claimed that the attack was carried out by parties "with a lot of resources".
Musk claimed that either a large coordinated group or a country was involved, or both.
The CEO wrote on the platform: "There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X."
'We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing...' said Musk in his tweets.
Later on, Musk claimed that IP addresses involved in the cyber attack were traced to locations "in the Ukraine area".
Musk stated that “There was a massive cyberattack to try and bring down the X system with IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area,”
The US government has recently limited Ukraine's access to satellite imagery and halted intelligence sharing.
These new decisions by the US government increased pressure on Kyiv as President Trump aims for a quick resolution to the war with Russia.

Complaints about outages spiked at around 10am in the UK, and again at 2pm.
In a now-deleted post on Telegram, a hacking group called Dark Storm Team claimed responsibility for the attack.
A source in the internet infrastructure industry told Reuters that the platform was targeted by multiple denial of service (DoS) attacks around 9:45 am.
The National Cyber Security Centre explains that DoS attacks aim to overwhelm a website or network, causing performance issues or making it inaccessible. While not always complex, these attacks can cause significant disruption.
