Why Was The Film's Premiere Postponed?

“Following the most recent shooting misfortune in my home country, Texas, in an agreement with Lifetime and all the related parties, have settled to delay The Bad Seed Returns’ launch. It doesn’t feel comfortable popularizing the movie this week; neither does Monday seem the perfect day to unveil it.” Wrote Grace on her main Twitter account, accompanied by a photo collage of the deceased children.

Lifetime confirmed the film would air later this year. The platform also notified the Television Academy of the settlement since the movie won’t premiere during the 2022 Emmys eligibility window, which ends on Tuesday, May 31st. The Bad Seed Returns was initially set to launch on Monday, May 31st, via Lifetime.

What is the Movie About?

The Bad Seed Returns reimagines the iconic 1956 psychological horror movie grounded on the award-winning book by William March and its stage reconstruction by Maxwell Anderson.

In the film, Grace portrays the 15-year-old teenager, Emma. Set some years after her father’s death, Emma is now sailing high school while staying with her auntie, Angela. Angela’s husband starts to doubt Emma’s innocence and thus suggests transferring her to boarding school.

In the meantime, a newcomer at school seems to be aware of Emma’s hidden secrets, leaving her with no otherwise but to get back to her old tactics and deal with her enemies in any way possible.

Who Produced 'The Bad Seed Returns'?

Mckenna Grace is the chief producer alongside Mark Wolper, her mom, Crystal Burge, and her dad, Ross Burge, who executive produced the film. Barbara Marshall remains the writer, alongside Louise Archambault of This Life and Catastrophe as the director.
