History of Emirgan Park

The park takes its name from Emir Güne Han, an Iranian who settled in the area in the 17th century. Sultan Murad IV gifted this region to him upon his return from the Revan Campaign. Later, in the 19th century, it was passed to Egyptian Khedive Ismail Pasha, and construction of the current pavilions began. During the Republican era, it was transferred to the Istanbul Municipality and opened to the public.
