> Watch This Rom-Com Movie Starring Ryan Reynolds Before He Was Deadpool on Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video has been making exciting new releases this month, from Prime originals to films we had long gone forgotten. However, to some, The Proposal (2009) starring Ryan Reynolds is a rom-com you can't quite shake off your memory.

Before Reynolds was a hit starring in big league movies such as Netflix's Red Notice, he was a sweet lover boy, and that's what made teenage girls like me, at the time, fall in love with this Canadian actor.

The Storyline

Starring alongside Sandra Bullock, Reynolds plays Andrew, the assistant to the pushy and bossy Margaret (Bullock). Margaret's American visa is expired, and she's facing deportation to her home country Canada unless she marries an American citizen. She forces Andrew to be his 'fiancé' to save herself, but Andrew negotiates a deal that she would promote him to editor and go with him to Alaska to visit his family, whom he hasn't seen in years. Guess what happens next? Obviously, they fall in love in the end.

The Cast

Apart from the Hollywood iconic duo, the movie features an ensemble cast consisting of Craig T. Nelson as Joe Paxton, Mary Steenburgen as Grace Paxton, the late Betty White as Grandma Annie, Malin Akerman as Gertrude, Denis O’ Hare as Mr Gilbertson, Michael Nouri as Chairman Bergen, Aasif Mandvi as Bob Spaulding, Oscar Nuñez as Ramone, Michael Mosley as Chuck and Dale Place as Jim McKittrick.

The Success

The Proposal was a success as the box office, grossing almost ten times its budget. The movie also scored Bullock nomination at the Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress- Motion Picture Comedy or Musical.

Girls, you shouldn't have to watch this masterpiece rom-com alone. Get your man in on the mix. I'm sure he'll appreciate the comic moments because it's not all serious love affairs in this film.
