They Combined Shipping Containers and Turned Them into a Luxury Villa
The Vermont Villa, designed in the USA, takes the concept of container homes to a whole new level. From the outside, the structure appears to be composed of black-painted shipping containers. However, once you step inside, it transforms into a luxurious villa, complete with a pool, sauna, terraces, and modern living spaces.
They established a two-story living space from containers.
The main structure of Vermont Villa was constructed using three 6-meter containers and one 12-meter container. However, these containers were not merely stacked on top of each other; they were significantly modified to accommodate large windows, doors, and terrace areas.
The interior of the house is spread over two floors. The main living area features a kitchen, dining section, living room, electric fireplace, and expansive windows. Thanks to the extensive use of glass, a more spacious interior has been created, replacing the narrow and dark atmosphere often found in container homes.
The building includes two bedrooms. While the master bedroom offers a more compact layout, the second bedroom is equipped with a bunk bed system and its own terrace. Moreover, the house has been thoughtfully designed to include a main bathroom, additional living space, laundry area, and storage areas.
The pool and sauna were also constructed from containers.
The most striking feature of Vermont Villa is the pool and sauna unit located outside the house. This section, named SaunaPlunge by Backcountry Containers, was also crafted from a separate shipping container.
The sauna space can accommodate up to four adults, while the adjacent small pool was designed to comfortably fit six adults. This area has been transformed into a private relaxation zone, directly accessible from the ground floor terrace.
Consequently, Vermont Villa is not just a house made of converted containers; it's a remarkable project that brings together modern living, vacation home comfort, and alternative architecture. This structure demonstrates how containers, with the right design, can be transformed into a unique living space, offering an unconventional interpretation to the classic villa concept.
